When the tablets arrived in Indian market there is lot of hype around them especially its arrival was started by Apple with its iPads. There was lot of fascination among Indian consumers also and many local brands also tried to launch their models in the market. Aakash was one Indian brand which brought cheapest tablet even in the initial phase and hence was very popular also.

Since it was 2G period, the access to net was very limited and also costly. Hence usability of tablets was quite limited and very mainly for inbuilt apps. With the start of 4G services though these factors were no longer hurdles, people did not much interest in tablets models as before. With in a very short span of time, the craze about tablets in India started going down which was phenomenon in other countries also.

Interestingly now we have started new models of tablets again started to come in 2022 and slowly but surely trend is expected to pick up. They are more suitable for kids for education and professionals who need to monitor work while on tour. New models of tablets are also coming in hybrid design where one can use tablets as laptops also. Both Indian as well as global brands are active in tablet segment in India.
